Mirror grinding info?

Hey folks, does anyone have any info on grinding your own mirrors for a scope. I have a friend that wants to look into what it takes to build his own scope by grinding his own mirror(s). I imagine he wants to know how to do it, the techniques used, materials needed, etc.
