Are present estimates about Impact events wrong?

Hello folks,
I just got done reading an article I believe was originally posted by the NY times but is now a News flash on AOL.
Apparently there is a new study group that has been studying Impact events and, Tsunami's, they have come to a different conclusion than our Current mainstream Scientists, about the frequency of catastrophic impact events.
They are basing their conclusions on Geologic evidence called Chevrons and, satellite images, along with a host of other Scientific Data.
this is against the Mainstream, so they admit that a lot more evidence is needed and, more astronomers are looking at the evidence they have so far.
I found this an interesting read and it does raise some valid points IMHO.
Check out this link, I have also copied the file for myself.

If they can provide more Proof, this will make our Understanding of the current statistical probabilities of a catastrophic Impact on Earth ,Change dramatically.
but I do emphasize they need more proof!
