Moon is best for dumping the waste of earth

today on earth, how to manage the waste materials is just a serious plight and for this we have to search the ulternate to minimize this problem of waste-dumping. even for our environment many substances proved that they are more hazardous not for the health but for the total system of the earth, moon is the best in this regard to keep the wastage materials thereon. what is your opinion in this regard, that how moon may become useful for earth?

Remember what happened on "Space: 1999"???

On more serious note, the idea itself is not as dumb as it seems from the first sight. First of all, ozzmoziz, I hate to be picky, but... Moon IS dead. You can't kill it any further. It's even unterraformable. The best we can use it for is mining, and even that would be restricted to polar regions, as it's simply too hot/too cold on Moon's equator. Well, unless we use robots, which don't care about pollution anyway.

So I'm not against landing some of the dangerous matterials on the Moon and leaving it there. Just not in the proximity of polar regions, and it should be OK. By the way, jetisoning it to Jupiter or Sun wouldn't be bad idea as well. These are unterraformable, even more so, they are not minable, so are even better targets for being the waste bin than Moon.

ya maybe you have a point carnifex but moon can be used for mining for sure thats why i did t want any dumping on it i mean u would have workers working in bio hazard and radio active waste land not a good thing
and besides its already full of radiation.

ozmosis is telling that moon is useful for mining activities thereon, really this is a great idea ozmosis, like the MRO another mro can also be send on moon, (here mro means moon reconnisance orbitor,) this sort of satelite can be detect the possibilities of minerals on moon, in the inner surface and on the upper surface where minerals are possible to find.

Of course, knowing that petrol is organic matterial, even Moon can't save us from associated problems, unless we find some other means of energy production. There are talks that there might be deposits of fusionable hydrogen there. I don't know, I'm not sure about it, but at least some metals and alike could be mined there for sure.

There's only one "but". If we want to exploit Lunar minerals, we really have to cut the transportation cost several times from modern sizes, otherwise they will be simply too expensive. Of course, no one asks about the price when you don't have any other resources... But still.

On the other hand, one thing about that mining disturbs me a lot. Officially, moon is no ones... Do you think it will remain that way after valuable minerals will be found? I don't think so...

I can even imagine our great great great grandchildren staring at the moon: "There's US territory, that mare belongs to EU, that huge area on the right is Russian... Yeah, that nuclear junkyard below is Earth, why do you ask? Oh, no, no one lives there, silly. That's are harsh place to be."

OK OK, I'm overexaggerating, but still, I have thoughts like that.

I am doubtful about gasses on moon, but may be some gasses are in the deep core of the moon, and earth will require it in the next 100 years ?

I am not sure, but what are the drawbacks to shipping it off to the sun? I don't believe there are any, and if not then that is the way to go.
