Ngc 891

Here is an image of NGC 891 I captured during the summer. I just got around to doing the processing now. The image is also uploaded to the astrophotography gallery. I am going to try and see if I can get new uploads to the gallery to post on the home page so members are notified of new posts in that area. At the moment it seems the best way is to put a brief notification in this forum that you have uploaded a new image to the astrophotography gallery.

Regards,

I went to Google images just to compare pictures, and to be honest your shot was just as good if not better then most of all I saw on the first few pages.

NGC 891 - this is an edge on shot of what we think is a spiral galaxy, right? And according to the APOD of Feb 28, 1997, they think our own Milky way is this thin also. Is that still the current thinking?

In any case, Great shot Daryl!

NGC 891 is over 100,000 light-years across, and is an unbarred spiral galaxy. Size wise it's pretty close, but the engine driving it is slightly different.

Hi Blue Fire,

I have no idea about the current thinking about the thickness of our galaxy.

Yes it is an edge on spiral galaxy.

Thanks for the feedback...
