M-1 The Crab With A 6" Achromat

Hello everyone,
for those of you that don't know, I had to re install my 6 inch Factory Achromat Lens Cell back on my Refractor while my APO lens cell gets recoated.
Friday Night Nov 17 at 11:30 Pm I shot this photo Of M-1 The Crab Nebula just to see what I would get in Color and, I also took one in Mono, here are my results.
You can see some chromatic Aberation in the color shot but I did not use a Minus violet filter, this is a result of 50- 21.2 sec subs processed in Autostar Envsion IP, Registax, and PiX Insight LE.

I reworked the shot with Photo studio 5.0 and a clone tool to fix the blue halos and to drop out some of the red.

Hi Dennis,

The APO lens will sure reduce the chromatic aberation problems. I use a Skywatcher 80mm ED refractor which has next to no color and are a great bargain at their price point.

Its only my opinion but I normally prefer keeping the contrast down even if it sacrifices fainter detail.

To prevent from having to crank up the contrast so high to try and bring out detail, its worth trying to get more signal aka longer exposures to capture the fainter parts of nebula and galaxies.

Keep the images coming...

Regards,
