Hi Guys,

I finally got out again last night, even though I was only at the end of my driveway, I still had fun.

I had just updated my laptop to XP/SP3, plus I found new update to the Meade DSI software again, and this time they made a lot of changes to the Envision Image capture software.

So this ended up as a learning session with the process again, but the improvements to the DSI software is awesome! they really changed a lot of different things, and it gives you much more control than ever.

As usual, this shot is taken right from my driveway with my C6RGT, and the Meade DSI 1 single shot, along with a 0.5x focal reducer and a minus V filter, but for the first time, I just let the software do its own thing and set it to normal operation and saved it as a Jpeg file format, adjusted the histogram sliders during acquisition and contrast, I did no other processing.

Usually I save in the Fits format and I save every composite image so that I can individually process each channel, and then have to do a stack and align, for each R,G,B, and then combine each channel, you guys know the drill, LOL, and so on and so on, but this way I didn't have to process anything, I just saved the image the software acquired, and uploaded it straight onto my website

That was way too easy.

Dennis
Edit: Sorry guys I forgot this was 50, 21.2 second subs

Hi Dennis,

Very nice image of M-15. If you don't want to take my word for it, my son walked up behind my while I was looking at it at said "thats nice". Believe me that comment is worth a lot, because if he sees an image he doesn't like he doesn't hold back in saying so. The little dear has caused me to hit the delete button on my own images a few times. He's 10.

I am all with you on you making the imaging process a little more simple, even though we know simple is not really the word to use if you look back at the previous efforts we have all made when learning astrophotography.

I have done the same thing as you, with a similar mind set, and have had a much more relaxing and enjoyable astrophotography session.

Regards,

Thanks Guys,

This is the very first time that I just let the software itself, do the Imaging and stacking, IF it's going to be this easy from now on with the new software, I am going to jump for joy! (IT was really that simple)

Now IF I can do this with all my images then Meade has definitely improved the software.
Thanks for the nice comments,

Dennis
