Orion Nebula M42 at ISO 3200

Holy Toledo,

An ISO of 3200, I cant wait to see the results you get on that one!
Yep, I know what you mean about getting out there to do our thing and having everything go just right. With your busy schedule I'm glad you got back in the saddle again.

Remember my anomaly near M-51? This thing is still going on, and from what I have gathered as evidence so far, its definitely not a result of RBI. The trick is to catch that flare up again.

There is an extremely faint un-designated galaxy in the exact same position that I have verified with some other images online, the Ordeal goes on!

Hi Dennis,

Here is the ISO 3200 image of M42 the Orion Nebula. I used the curves function in Photoshop to bring it to life. I then used Neat Image to kill a lot of the noise which did a fantastic job. I am rather happy with the results. 72 15 second subs, ISO 3200, and a Full Moon sure keeps me optimistic about the possibility of using my DSLR a lot more.

I am not sure if you have noticed this, but when you go to the full image in the Gallery, if someone has uploaded a large enough image, you can click on the image and it will present it in a very cool way with a nice semi dark background.

Hi Darryl,

I can hardly believe that you got this good of a result with this shot, and a with full Moon!

Very well done, You managed to process out the bright sky background from the Moon, without dimming the nebulous detail of the object, 15 seconds is rather short even at 3200, I was expecting to see more sky glow and loss of detail in the Nebula surrounding the trapezium, to be honest with you I'm impressed.

My DSI gives me a 640 X 480 size by default, unless I use the Drizzle feature when I post process, so I really haven't loaded anything big enough to see the new feature that you are talking about other than this image.
Very cool!

Dennis
