Image Of Full Moon - First Image In Months

I can't believe it. I actually got outside last night and did some imaging of the Full Moon. It's been quite some time. I had to get reacquainted with my imaging routine and tried a couple of new things for future reference. Overall I had a blast. It got down to about -6C but with cable running from the computer inside the house to the mount sitting outside I got to stay fairly warm once things got going. I also had a chance to image another object I've never had a chance to get due to weather and the time to do it, and that's M42. Here is a thumbnail link to the full moon image in the gallery.

Nice shot Darryl !

I like the way you have caught the Rays of the Tycho crater. did you use any filtering or maybe a polarizer?

Its been way to cold and windy for me here in New Hampshire the last couple of days, the wind chill was around -20F coupled with the Moon in the sky.
This has detered me from getting out there and imaging.
How did you do with M-42?

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Just the Canon 20D through the SkyWatcher refractor. No filters or polarizer. Did about 12 shots varying the exposure by .001 of a second each time and picked the best one this morning.

I won't know the outcome of M42 for a couple of days. Other than combining all the images I haven't done any sort of processing or adjustments yet. 15 second subs using a DSLR with a full moon at ISO3200 might prove to be more than this nebula can handle.

A "calm" cold night is one thing. Add a little wind and it can get uncomfortable pretty fast. Why do you think I've got the cables running out the back door of the house. At least it keeps me warm once I have everything setup and running which as we both know is a rather rare occurrence.
