Direct Evidence of Dark Matter Found by Astronomers

Hi folks,
In the new December Issue of Astronomy magazine, I found an article on page 24 stating that Astronomers have found direct evidence of Dark Matter.

The article, written by Michael Carroll on page 24, goes on to say that Douglas Clowe, from the University of Arizona and his team, have found the first direct evidence of Dark Matter by combining X-Ray,and Gravitational lensing studies of the Bullet cluster (1E0657-56).

Apparently this massive traffic accident between two Galaxy Clusters has Gravitationally warped Space and, has resulted in Gravitational Lensing, but the lensing is most prounced outside the gas on either side of the collision.

The gas has slowed and is settling into the center, but the Dark Matter, which seems to only respond to Gravity isnt slowed.
they see that the mass, which is dominated by dark matter, is centered on the Galaxies, according to Dennis Zaritsky of the University of Arizona.

The statement made, is no surprise, that we are ignoring a very interesting alternative. that alternative, namely,is that we dont understand Gravity.
Im sure that is not a revelation to anyone that is Keen on Science and where our present understanding of gravity lies..

From what I understand, and someone please correct my line of thinking if I am wrong on this,
is that there is nothing new about this, and that evidence of Dark Matter was first found by a Woman Astronomer a while ago, by studing the radial velocity curves of stars around the the Andromeda Galaxy.

She found that stars orbitng the outer part of the galaxy are not moving as slow as they should be, the velocity of the stars around the galaxy when plotted on a graph show linearity, instead of a Steep curve as the distance increases from the center, the speed of each star should drop.

If you look at the orbital periods of objects in our own Solar System, as you progress outwards from the sun, the Planets orbital periods increase with distance, a basic Principle of orbital Physics.

When our Solar Systems objects, are plotted on a graph, it is not a linear line that is formed, but a curve, as it should be.
Could it also be that Newtons laws need to be revised for the very large scales as is for the very small scales?
is it possible that since we really dont understand gravity, that our Physics need to be modified? and that the effects seen by the theorized undetectable Dark Matter is quite possibly an illusion?
Dennis
