| Mars Phoenix Lander Touches Down
It looks like everything went very well for the Mars Phoenix Lander yesterday evening. I watched most of the event on the NASA channel. According to JPL and NASA officials everything went very smoothly, and it appeared that way as you listened to the commentary and watched the event unfold in the control room. NASA already has some images from Phoenix posted here NASA - Phoenix. I find it amazing that we can send an unmanned mission millions of kilometres and have it successfully touch down on another planet and then start sending snapshots home of itself on a distant planet such as Mars to let us know its ok. Sure it’s our neighbour as far as planets go but it's still a long way from us. If we all work together with a common goal such as space exploration which is one of mankind's greatest endeavours, maybe there is hope for us yet.

never happen, hope there may be in spite of that, some catastrophy that will unite us all. For only in collective response to a global catasrophy will men unite as brothers. On a different tack. Seems latest data on climate change, looking at changes over millenia, indicate earth temperature rises trigger CO2 increase, and man is but a small part of the equation. Put the cart in front of the horse. For what its worth, the gulf stream was responsible for the last cold 'snap' which took out most of the Clovis people, 10 thousand years ago. Value you, what scenario you envisage if the gulf stream fails, and what are the implications? Bearing in mind that the southern ocean is warm and salty, gets cooled by the arctic, and sinks. If the arctic ice melts, then freshwater dilutes the seawater, so it not sink, and the gulf stream is colder. Shoving a foot out here Darryl, may we not be facing a mini ice age, or worse? Nokton |

am I to believe, what I am taught, or what I believe to be true. You know the answer to that Darryl. If I not respect you, not be here, asking the question, we both need an answer to take care Peter Best regards |
