Televue Ethos Eyepiece

Hi Darryl, came today, tested first on terrestrial stuff. Instructions enclosed indicate a prob with some refractors using TV Everbrite diagonals. No prob with my TAK, only thing, to get the best out of it
if you wear glasses, you really need TVs Dioptrx if your eye not so good.
The central view just so, but to see the whole field one has to move ones eye position to one side or another, the apparent FOV determined by
ones eye. As a photographer of many years, and a lover of wide angle lenses, what I saw on my screen, was what I got.
Never the less, this lens majors in contrast and detail I never experienced
before. Tell you more when this damn cloud breaks and can see the stars.

Sounds like you are very optimistic about the Televue Ethos already. The comments about the wide field and great contrast are very exciting.

If the weather is anything like here you need to forget you even have the eyepiece and don't look at the clouds. Its the only way you are going to get clear skies. Some sort of ritualistic chant may help.

Am very impressed with this ocular Darryl, without looking at the stars.
Decades of film photography with top quality lenses taught me about
something I would describe as the 'drawing quality' of a lens. The ability to reproduce delicate skin tones, eg, as real as it gets. Ziess, and top Canon lenses have that quality, and so does the Ethos.
A fine lens is not just about contrast and definition, but how it delivers
it in image quality. The Ethos delivers it in spades.

Hi Darryl, clear skies been limited, but, got a chance with the moon.
Allow me this, am an old man with his tongue stuck firmly in his cheek.
The views of the moon, with the Ethos on my Tak took my breath away, not just the contrast and definition, but the almost 3D effect of
being above it, in space. Cloud cover limited my further viewing of stars,
but know now this is a fantastic eyepiece.
Darryl, try it out when I can, with Televues 2.5 powermate, let you know.
But for heavens sake, if you really love the stars, get one, nothing comes closer to your dream

Yes Darryl, hope. But only for a few. Who cares? or wants to care,
or sees or appreciates the truth of what we face as a species.
Those with eyes of wisdom to see are but a facet of Mankind.
Nevertheless, my hope is in the survival of the true Mankind,
not a new species, but an enlightened one.

Yes, I got the 8mm and the 13mm. They were both gone when I woke up .

Hi Darryl,
Hope you well and in good spirit. Dreams were ever the precursor
of the desire for knowledge and understanding.
On a serious note Darryl, my dealer tempting me with the 8mm, being
a bit long in the tooth, so to speak, told him would evaluate the 13mm
with my Televue 2.5 powermate, if the image quality holds up, why bother? As Mr Spock would say, not logical.
