hey guys,
I think I finally found another image with my unknown star in it.
its on the NGCIC project page here,http://www.ngcic.org/dss/dss_ngc.htm
its under NGC 5194.
but it does not mention if it is a DSS1r band image.
here is an upside down shot.

HI Ozz,
unfortunately I still dont see it!
I have been looking so hard all over the place that my eyes are getting crossed.
so far I believe that a hot pixel or an asteroid possibility have been ruled out, why do I say this?
what are the chances of a hot pixel or an asteroid (to far away from the ecliptic)showing up in the exact position that my star is in be?
I couldnt even calculate those odds.
Dennis

Hi Dennis,

The images of M51 I thought I had seem to be missing at the moment. Its possible that I backed them up onto a CD and "filed" them "somewhere". If I find them I will definitely post them.

Later,

Thanks Darryl,
I have found another image from the European Space Telescope site
http://www.spacetelescope.org/images/html/opo9617c.html
Im sure that this one is not a dss1rband image.
any thoughts Darryl?
could this be the confirming shot?
Dennis

HI Ozz,
it was imaged on 09/07/06 at 2:25 am EST.
The images that I have found which contain my star may be copies of the dss1r band image, and those that are real good are zoomed in to close to show the field.
I have now reviewed approx 800 images, 4 turned up my star but other folks say its a copy of the dss1r band image, 2 that had my hopes up,
one is on the Euro Space Agency telescope site that has a color inset taken with the WFCp Camera and shows my star and gives credit to a Nino Panagia for the image but folks are saying that its proabably a dss1r band image that was used as a base for the inset.
I am getting tired but i wont give up, the extreme below 0 degree weather along with wind gusts and the Nor Easter that is hitting us has discouraged many astrophotographers from a follow up image.

Dennis

Its a good possibility that he is right, but in my mind i cant imagine the Euro Space agency using a copy of a dss1r band image then place and inset of a hubble close up and then give credit to the image to that person! Ugh!
