Black Holes and limit of star formation

Black holes at the center of galaxy clusters can limit the star formation rate in the galaxy?

Hi pranab, good to see you here.

To answer your question, yes, it can.

Quote:
The bubbles appear to be generated by high-speed jets blasting away from the vicinity of the giant galaxy's supermassive black hole. Individual bubbles seen in the inner regions expand and merge to create vast plumes at larger distances.
"The plumes show that the black hole has been venting for at least 100 million years, and probably much longer," said co-author Jeremy Sanders also of Cambridge University.
The venting produces sound waves which heat the gas throughout the inner regions of the cluster and prevent the gas from cooling and making stars at a large rate. This process has slowed the growth of the central galaxy in the cluster, NGC 1275, which is one of the largest galaxies in the universe.

Dear DRAGON star
Answer is yes I know. But what is the mechanism one possible mechanism is that Black holes at the center of galaxy clusters can drive strong outflows of gases that limit the rate of star formation. My Younger brother Rupak Bhattacharya asked me about mechanism & I want discussion on this issue.

I'd say the mechanism is driven directly off of the BH's magnetic field. Swirling masses of interstellar dust spiraling just outside the event horizon in the accretion disk get captured by the magnetic field at the poles of the disk, which are forced into jets.

The jets produce the bubbles, which produce the heat preventing the coagulation of matter.

So, from basics, you have.

A)Superdense mass.
B)Effects of intense gravity due to superdense mass.
C)Mechanics of BH produce jets which produce bubbles, creating sound waves which heat up the matter beyond the point of coagulation.

Did I answer you sufficiently?

Hi Pranab.

I think this article may answer your question.
