Glad to see this website. I wish it success. I hope to contribute to its success.

Who started it and who runs it?

Hi Darryl!

I love Canada. It is a wonderful country. I lived and worked in Nova Scotta for a month. I have wonderful memories of my stay there.

Hi Bill,

Welcome!

I started this website out of my interest in Astronomy and Astrophotography. I wanted a web site to upload images and share my interest in Astronomy, and thought a forum would be a great place to do that. I monitor the board on a regular basis and see to the technical side of the operation.

You were on the opposite coast to me during your time in Canada. I have never been quite that far, except over it in an airplane. I hear its very nice there, I would like to visit it myself someday.

The site is getting more members all the time, with a great group of core people who visit on a very regular basis.

Hi Diana. Good to be here. For a second I could not log back in. Then I noticed I typed one too many L's in my name when I registered.

It is kind of an optical illusion because you don't even notice it unless you know it is there.

I wonder if it is too late to change that.

Thanks, I am glad to have found a website that is focused on Astronomy instead of a whole lot of other stuff like other forums.

I think I will like it here and I think I will have -- or I hope I will be thought to have -- some to contribute.

I made a list of interntaional astronomy websites once. I will see if I can dig it up and show it here later.

My little extreme list

Here is the "extreme" astronomy list that I had put together once. It is from all over the world and is of multiple languages. It is something that was put together from multiple search engines.

I want to work on this to make it better and it is just a first pass.

Maybe we can incorporate it here, Daryl, we can discuss this later (ever hear of DIGG?)

my astronomy website list I started

It might be fun to work together on something.

Hi Bill,

The only place to link to a personal website or any website is to submit it to the Links section and it will be reviewed. Links to astronomy related news items or that type of thing are ok if used sparingly. Links inside the chitchat forum will be tolerated as long as they aren't used a lot. I intend to keep fairly tight control of outbound links.

If you know of any links on your site that really stand out you could submit them as a separate link into the links section.

I have never heard of DIGG. What is it?

Thanks...

Friends of mine have shown me some popular PHP CMS open-source packages like DIGG and PLIGG where you can have lists of items and people choose which ones they like and the list sorts accordingly. I don't want to sound like I am advertising for anything or anyone so we can talk about this stuff in PM's.
