Gravitational waves are not only the known cosmic sources of cosmic noice in the universe. Most famously the universe is filled with Background of electromagnatic radiations left behind the Hot Big Bang. It has now cooled to its present temperature of about 2.7 Kelvin by subsiquent expansion of universe. In 1992 COBE reported its measurement of spectrum of microwave background and found it to have a perfect Black body form with a charecteristic tempertature that had tiny variation across the sky_ the seeds of galaxies formation. Subsiquent Experiments by NASA follow up WMAP( Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe) mission had provided a deatailed piicture. Any Background of relic particles provides us with a snapshot of the Universe at a very definite time- The time at which these particles decoupled from primoridial plasma. For Photons of cosmic microwave background this happened when universe was just 2,70,000 years old. The photons we see today in CMB is therefore true photograph of the universe at that age only. Weakly interacting Neutrinos decoupled when the universe was about a second old. So We think it is better to mesure the age of universe by Gravitational Particles than by COBE or CMB

Interesting idea, that is, as soon as we detect the graviton.
