I can't remember if the show I saw was on the history channel or the science channel, but they show him at a conference and he actually stated in his electronic voice that information is not truly lost in a black hole, and that Hawking radiation cannot fully account for this information paradox, and the information may be appearing in another parralled Universe or Space that can never be seen from our space.
Apparently either the show was outdated or he has changed his position somewhat , I just found one of his most recent papers,
